Penrith Mountain Rescue Team
PMRT covers the largest geographic area of any of the Lakes District Mountain Rescue Teams. Our area stretches from the Scottish Border in the North to the Northumberland Border in the East, down the North Pennines to High Cup Nick above Dufton in the South, with the North-eastern fells of the Lake District (Haweswater) making up our Western boundary.

LATEST NEWS
New Team Vehicles.-

The team have now taken delivery of 3 new vehicles. Two Land Rover 110s and a modified Renault LoadMaster 150. Check out our new vehicles page.
Swift Water Rescue. -
On 12th - 14th July three team members, Rob Holden, Jon Stevens and Steve Ullyart completed a 3 day Swift Water Rescue training course. The course was centered on Kendal MRT base, but several rivers in the Kendal area were used for the practical side of the course. Also attending were team members from Langdale Ambleside, Duddon & Furness and Kirkby Stephen MRTs. The Penrith team now have 12 qualified Swift Water Rescue Technicians.

It costs approximately £20,000 per year to run the team. We receive no statutory funding and as such rely on the generosity of the public.

Team members come from all walks of life and are expected to have considerable mountaineering experience -
